What about students younger than 6?

3-5 yr old students are accepted on a case-by-case basis, depending on their initial assessment. At this age we can begin to work on comprehensive musicianship skills such as rhythm, listening, hand/eye coordination, dexterity and fine motor skills, musical vocabulary and concepts like tempo and dynamics, and so much more!

Experience listening to and engaging with music has a tremendous impact on musical development as well as neurological health (see Music and the Brain). For more information or further questions, contact me.

Students aged 3-5, if accepted, may enroll in one-on-one instruction and additionally:

  • Cannot enroll in offered or custom group lessons.

  • Must have an adult guardian present and available to support them during the full duration of each session, unless otherwise stated or discussed.

What is the first session like?

Any student of any age is required to complete an assessment as their first session. Assessments are billed individually with no additional tuition commitment.

During this initial session:

  • The student will have the opportunity to note their specific musical interests and goals and ask any questions they may have.

  • The student will also participate in a mini-lesson and be asked to demonstrate and try different skill sets.

  • Information is gathered to tailor the student’s course of study, materials, and repertoire.

  • The student can determine if there is a compatible instructional fit before continuing. In any student’s search for a teacher, it is paramount that they feel comfortable with their teacher, and also confident that their teacher will be working to meet them in their learning styles.

How much does it cost?

The initial assessment session is billed individually at a rate of $100 for what is typically a 1-1.5 hr assessment depending on student age, goals, and interests. The length of this assessment decreases for younger students, and increases for those with more complex goals to discuss and evaluate.

As a part of this conversation, the student will share their musical goals and learning style preferences and have active input in determining the session schedule, frequency, and monthly cost.

Following the assessment:

  • The student will be sent a quote for a tuition package and plan that meets their specific needs. The student can accept this proposal or suggest changes before beginning study.

  • All pricing is customized to each student, and varies based on details such as the length and frequency of sessions.

  • Discounts are available when registering for multiple months or semesters.

  • Discounts are also available for multi-student families.

  • A sliding scale is available as needed.

Any other payment-related questions can be asked and answered in further detail during the initial assessment session.

How often do I pay?

Enrollment is non-refundable and is typically billed by month or by semester. Your tuition package enrolls you in the studio and reserves a weekly session time. Individual sessions are nonrefundable. When available, makeup sessions will be offered on the first Sunday of each month.

Current studio members always have the option to book individual sessions in addition to their studio tuition package.
